Your Role as a Speech-Language Pathologist

As a Speech-Language Pathologist in one of our VA SLP jobs, you will play a crucial role in assessing, diagnosing, and treating veterans with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess communication and swallowing impairments.
• Developing individualized treatment plans tailored to meet each veteran’s specific needs.
• Implementing therapeutic interventions to improve speech, language, and swallowing abilities.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, including physicians, occupational therapists, and physical therapists to provide holistic care.
• Educating patients and their families on communication strategies and swallowing techniques.
• Staying current with best practices in speech-language pathology through continuous professional development.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate for our VA SLP jobs will possess the following qualifications:

• Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
• Current state licensure to practice as a Speech-Language Pathologist.
• Certification of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from ASHA.
• Experience working with veterans or in rehabilitative settings is preferred but not required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
